The Mecca of dreams A.K.A Mumbai is indeed the land where dreams come true; with masses thronging the financial capital of India with star studded dreams of making it big is the centre of the Indian Film Industry. Needless to say that, it's the very city that has given birth to by far the biggest diasporas of entertainment in terms of films and television programmes that it is widely known by its acronym 'BOLLYWOOD'.
Over a decade ago in '97, a group of film industry stalwarts headed by (late) Hrishikesh Mukherjee founded the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) as a not for profit Trust. The main intention was to organize an annual International Film Festival of which the film industry and the country can be proud of.
This year's Mumbai Film Festival (MFF) has an impressive line up of jury like never before! One can very easily call them as the 'League of Extraordinary People'! The heavyweight names that will maketh the jury this year includes the likes of Bollywood actress Sarika, alongwith the League of Academy Award nominee director- Hugh Hudson (Jury president, international competition), Roger Spottiswoode director of James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer The 6th Day, Acclaimed Polish director- Jerzy Skolimowski, young Korean director - Na-Hong Jin who received numerous awards and acclaim for his films The Chaser and The Yellow Sea.
Continuing the aim to foster a climate of good cinema, the MFF is a first step in that direction. So, here's a page totally dedicated to the what, when, where, why, and who of the 13th Mumbai Film Festival, that will take place from October 13-20, 2011.
